Heading to check on a coyote den
My name is Tim Ivey and I am a Georgia State Licensed Wildlife Management Trapper and State Certified Wildlife Control Operator. We are also called Animal Damage Control Specialists(ADC). I began hunting when I was 12 years old and since that time, I have acquired a lifetime of experience in Woodsmanship, Tracking, Animal Behavior and Patterning animal movements. I am an active member of the National Trappers Association, the Georgia Trappers Association and the NRA. Let me make it clear that I am NOT a fur trapper. I am a Predator Control Trapper.
I am a traditional Trapper, I do not use cage traps. I use the latest in foothold traps. It is very difficult to get a Coyote to enter a cage. For Coyote, Fox and Bobcat, I use foot hold traps exclusively. "Deer clubs waste thousands of dollars each year in an attempt to maintain their QDM programs without realizing that much of their money is winding up as Coyote Scat on their logging roads. Clubs that do not have an ongoing Coyote Removal program are losing nearly 75% of their newborn fawns to coyotes. Cattle breeders and ranchers lose thousands of dollars a year in newborn calves to coyote predation.
"I read an article today in the February 2013 GON that stated deer hunters all over the state reported lower deer populations due to high doe bag limits by the DNR and Coyotes. The high bag limits on does is not the problem. The #1 main reason the deer numbers are low is the explosion of the Coyote population! Coyotes prey on deer and deer fawns 365 days a year. They are the predator's main food source here in the South and if you are not having them Trapped out on a yearly or two year basis your club is in a battle that you will not win."

***WARNING: COYOTE BREEDING SEASON IS UNDERWAY. COYOTES WILL BECOME MUCH MORE AGGRESSIVE IN THEIR BEHAVIOR AS THEY ROAM MORE AND MORE IN SEARCH OF FOOD TO FEED THEIR NEWBORN PUPS. PETS AND LIVESTOCK ARE AT RISK OF ATTACK FROM NOW UNTIL FALL. THE COYOTES WILL KILL ANY ANIMAL THEY CAN FIND, CATS, DOGS, CALVES, CATTLE, FOALS, RABBITS AND DEER. SOME WILL ALSO CONTACT RABIES FROM ANIMALS THAT THEY KILL. ***

I read and study the Government, University and Private Coyote Predation Control Research and Thesis papers from the 1930's until now. I have studied the tactics and techiques of the best Professional Trappers and ADC Wildlife Operators in the business. The techniques that the Western Government trappers used back in the 19th century are still relevant today and I incorporate many of those techniques into my system. Urban coyote control presents it's own challenges and I am well experienced in this area.

**I recently returned from Morristown Tennessee where I trained for two days, in Advanced Coyote and Beaver Trapping, with one of the top ADC Trappers in that state.** This was a great learning experience for me in that I learned several new techniques that will allow me to take my Trapping to the next level and expand my business model. Coyotes have invaded every state in the US and are in neighborhoods and cities. During their upcoming breeding season, in Jan-Feb, they will take any food of opportunity to feed their newly born pups. "..Pets are very vulnerable this time of year as you see on the news. Cats are a favorite food for coyotes and many cat owners let their cats out one morning or evening and never see them again."

Coyotes, Bobcats, Foxes and Raccoons are designated by the State of Georgia as vectors for the "Rabies virus as well as Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Sarcoptic Mange and many other communicable diseases." They can transfer the diseases to humans, Horses, Cattle or Pets through a bite or scratch.
*********************************************************************************************
As the winter sets in, they must hunt and feed more to maintain their body heat, so use caution when out walking early in the morning or right at dark in the evening for this is the times that they pack up and hunt for food. " How much money would it cost to have a veterinarian sew up your horse, dog or cat who was attacked by a coyote? Not to mention the Emotional toll such an attack on a beloved pet takes."...there are documented attacks on babies and toddlers that are never reported in the media." READ IN MY BLOG WHAT THE MEDIA DOES NOT WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT COYOTE ATTACKS ON CHILDREN"...For the Cattlemen, how much is that newborn calf worth to you in either future generations of breeding stock or beef production? I will be updating this page and my photos and blog as time permits providing information to the General Public that they are not aware of.

Coyote Attacking Deer
Notice how this large coyote is attacking this deer. They go directly for the throat, under the ears and kill by crushing the larynx and severing the jugular vein. They kill sheep, calves, goats and pets the same way. Coyotes are among the most efficient predators next to wolves. Whereas wolves hunt in packs, most of the time a coyote hunts solo or as a pair. They are so efficient that they can attack and kill a calf, goat or sheep and leave the rest of the herd relatively undisturbed. Wild dogs, in comparison are not very efficient killers. Their attacks target the rear quarters of animals and leave slashing, mutilating type wounds. And they attack in packs. Nevertheless, they are more dangerous than the coyote because they have lost their fear of man whereas a typical Coyote has not. Wild feral dogs are much more of a threat to a person in the woods than the coyote, unless the coyote is Rabid.
